On August 24, 2014 we had a 6.0 earthquake. I live in Sonoma and Napa is just (points East) over there on the other side of that mountain/hill.

6.0 Earthquake Rattles Northern California

The USGS site describes it this way:

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck in northern California on August 24, 2014 at 10:20:44 UTC.

This event is being called the South Napa earthquake.

This is the largest earthquake in the Bay Area since the magnitude 6.9 Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, almost 25 years ago.

Yes, I felt it. It was 3:20am for me. Here is what I posted on Facebook later that morning:

Thanks for the messages asking about my well being following the earthquake.

I have no damage here at my house. I had a few things fall and some things move around a bit.

The sound was extremely loud and got me out of a dead sleep. That scared the crap out of me and I screamed the entire time which left my throat quite raw. I did remember to lay down next to my bed (triangle of safety) once I realized what was happening. I spent that time wondering how long it would last and how bad it would be. Those were my only thoughts.

The neighbors are ok. The upstairs neighbors across the driveway had quite a different experience with things falling and breaking as well as many things falling from the walls and all doors/cupboards opening. The neighbors have lived here for 58 years and it’s only the third earthquake they have felt here. They could see the electricity transformers exploding all over the valley. The power was out in the valley; I’ve never seen it so dark. By some amazing occurrence, my power stayed on which made it a lot less scary afterward.

I sat outside for about 45 minutes as I didn’t feel comfortable being inside. However, it was COLD so I eventually went back inside.

I found myself working with this concept with Eloheim:
“It was dangerous, it could be dangerous again, it’s not dangerous now.”

I had to work on removing my focus from “what could be” and instead focus on my current experience.

I relaxed my body and lowered my heart rate which allowed me to sleep.

I just woke up and I’m watching the news. Seems like there was a lot of damage to the area. The epicenter was South of me about 30 miles or so. There is quite a bit of damage in Napa. I live in Sonoma and haven’t seen updates on that yet.

We haven’t had significant aftershocks here. I only felt one that was a smaller version of the first and another that woke me up but didn’t last any noticeable amount of time.

I just heard that the bridges made it through the earthquake. That’s good news.

Thanks again for your concern and well wishes.

In the comments on FB, Gina posted:

This afternoon I listened to the first half of the Eloheim Meeting from 1/22/14, in which the Eloheim Channel talked specifically about the ‘Triangle of Safety’ (about 40 minutes into the talk). The notes I took on the Triangle of Safety were:

* [in situations like an earthquake], it’s about keeping your wits about you

* knowing that you are afraid, but not making more fear

* what is ‘is’

* be calm in the face of ‘what is’

* It’s really easy to argue with ‘what is’, but it doesn’t seem to do a damn bit of good in a disaster

* don’t be the one who adds to the fear…

Veronica, I am grateful that you are alright. Love, Gina

California Earthquake
One way to interact with the earth quake damage

I’ve had a couple of weeks and a few significant aftershocks to process how this experience went. I learned some important things.

1. I applied the Eloheim teachings even when significantly triggered. A healthy habit!

2. Celebrate #1 some more!!!!

3. Being roused out of a deep sleep by a loud sound isn’t my best look. I’m very sound sensitive and have very good hearing. Big Earthquakes ARE LOUD and this one was VERY noisy. I heard the aftershocks before I felt them. My system knows the sound now! There were at least four aftershocks that woke me up. They were all much smaller and shorter.

4. I keep finding things that tipped over during the quake. Just as I was typing this post I noticed a small vase on it’s side. Thankfully, nothing on the inside of the house broke.

5. The only injury I sustained was when I bent over to stand up a garden statue (which did break), I was stung by a wasp. I now know it was a wasp and not a bee due to my wonderful interview with Randy Sue Collins about beekeeping! Listen on demand for FREE here.

Another very fascinating part of this is the “shared fear” that needed processing.

After the initial quake, I managed to sleep some more only to be awakened by the door bell. My neighbor was checking on me. She needed to share her experiences and I needed to share mine.

Later that day, another neighbor phoned twice to see how I was doing.

Before the next channeling session, we had dinner as a group and spent the entire meal sharing our stories.

I found this to be very healing. It wasn’t so much of “Here is my fear, what’s yours?” as it was, “This is what happened and how I dealt with it.” I found it very powerful to hear about the -in the moment, no time to think about it- reactions.

I assumed that Eloheim would speak about the earthquake in the August 27th session, but it didn’t come up. Instead, we had a meeting that generated these comments:

EPIC meeting last night! THE most life changing information to date. This changes everything for me. Thank you E and V!

WOW…Just watched last nights session, it was huge!! it was exactly what I needed…some juicy new info!!!

amazingly potent thank you…

OMG i’m blown away. I never felt like that while listening to E and the council….!!!! all new
